A question about genetics...

This is sort of a help thread, except not.

Let me get straight to the point. Thanks to shitty genes on my mother's side, I have pretty fat legs. The rest is okay, actually pretty thin, I don't eat too much, I exercise a little. I've sort of resented her since high school, when I really became aware of it. It's sort of messing me up both physically and mentally.

Anyways, my question is, is it possible to get rid of this defect? If so how?

Exercise. It is impossible to change your actual genetics, and even if you could magically switch up the DNA in every cell in your body, the fat would still be there.

Cut down on calories, do interval training to burn the fat. Just keep watching your diet and exercising.

And there's no such thing as localized weight loss. You're not going to be able to do something like train just your legs and have your legs magically become thin. You've gotta lose weight all over to lose it off your legs.

How is this a questions about genetics again? You should know why its impossible to do what your asking, even with just basic highschool biology under your belt.

This is most likely not genetics. While it may be geneticaly favoured for you to have large legs, it is an environmentaly based problem (i.e. fat will only be there if fat can be there).

As long as you work out and eat properly, you should be able to tone your legs. Do not try to starve yourself thin or use a fad diet.
