Ok guys, time to come up with a new joke.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-29 0:59

How could one be more when they're both the exact same besides how they're written out.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-29 12:28

1 would be more. .9 repeating would be forever nearing 1, thus be infitely smaller than 1 at a given point. if no point is given, it would be forever nearing one.... \\\\\@____________@/

9 that is like saying a car that takes 10 seconds to travel 50 feet goes faster than a car that has went 40 feet in 7 seconds
8 then they arent the same ..

.9 repeating is equal to one.

If you multiply anything by .9 repeating it will become one less in the ones place but then have .9 repeating.  For example, 5 * .9 repeating becomes 4.9 repeating.  If you subtract .9 repeating from something that has .9 repeating at the end, the nines would disapear.  Therefore:

10(.9 repeating) - .9 repeating = 9
9(.9 repeating) = 9
.9 repeating = 1

.4 repeating is seven

Name: Anonymous 2006-12-03 8:17 (sage)

.x repeating is x/9

.45 repeating is 5?

Name: Anonymous 2006-12-03 18:46

when you take infinite decimals you jump to the right.

so if it's 0.999... then you jump to the right and get 1.

similarly for -0.999... you jump to the right and get -0.99999...8

What if you're left-handed?

sum(x*10^-n,n,1,inf) == x/9

Don't change these.
