Hello.
Backdrop.
Long story short I am a philosophical genius and have come to a dead end as I am intelligent, but lack experience.
Prelude.
Thinking an idea is not enough to enact it. You need to psychologically condition yourself in that idea in order to use it, like a person would condition themselves to overcome their fear of spiders or a recruit would be trained to obey the orders of his sergeant. There are 100s of instances in your life when you made a mistake and think back to your parents warning you not to make that mistake. The next paragraph is called theory, don't let any petty foibles get in the way of reading this please. For instance when I say that science is based on a dogma, I am not an extremist claiming there is something wrong with science, I am saying that the need for proof is the core idea that science is formed from. I have one agenda, which is to accertain the truth.
Theory.
Dogmas are generally associated with religion. The definition in the past however was more extensive and coverred everything from superstition to core philosophical dogmas such as the belief that you need proof to justify believing in something. Generally people do not restrict dogmas to important dogmas like science, for 2 reasons
1: There is nothing stopping them.
2: They need a purpose.
This unrestricted creation of dogmas resulted in ideas that were simply incorrect and forms of reasonning that do not work. 200 years ago Kant explained that in order for a dogma to be considerred valid it..
1: Should be judged by it's effects.
2: Must not contradict other valid dogmas.
These 2 restrictions are the general basis for all criticism of dogma, you do use them even if you are not aware of them.. For instance you may point out that a dogma contradicts with the "you need proof to justify believing in things" dogma, in a more concise manner of course by stating that a person's idea cannot be proven. A person's purpose is a dogma, for the most part it is instinctive, gaining pleasure, avoiding pain etc.. However people, including myself, generate 100s of dogmas which they can follow unquestionningly, bear in mind such dogmas rarely obey Kant's 2 restrictions, which leads back to the point made in the backdrop and the conclusion...
Conclusion.
I set myself the task of creating dogmas which follow Kant's restrictions and succeeded, however I am having difficulty over-riding my instinct and conditionning myself to follow them. When I succeed it usually involves the use of dogmas which do not follow Kant's restrictions and I have developped the idea that irrational dogmas can be used temporarily for their effects if I ignore the dogmas they contradict, temporarily. However this leads to madness and irrational behaviour. It is obvious I should use my congruent set of dogmas, which I believe requires me to condition myself.
So /sci/, how do I condition myself? Let's have some ideas, treat this like a post on /b/ when somoene asks you to post something and he will jerk off over the 10th thing posted. I will do it, I'm desperate for answers.
