A few days ago on the left side of my right foot's big toe a piece of my nail broke off, meaning that it has essentially been cut too short. When I put pressure on the toe it hurt, so I dug out what appears to be a slightly ingrown toe nail using my fingers, pushing skin underneath and lifting the offensive piece up over the skin.
It feels fine now, but I don't know what will happen next and if I need to do anything else. Is it ok to just keep leverring the nail out of the side of my toe whenever it hurts until it is long enough to keep itself out, or is there something more specific I can do?
