Why does shit smell the way it does?

Never understood.

i have noticed shit has two scents.

the first scent is the ocean breeze scent that you smell when you first shit. sometimes it smells like bleach too

the second is when its been sitting around for a while.. when it begins to smell like squid or rotting seafood.

i have no problem with the first kind, but the second one is truly annoying.
why does shit start to smell like that, and how can i prevent it or reduce the stench?

Shit has no real smell attributed naturally to it, it just gives off particles our nose can pick up. Any number of organisms can all smell shit differently, some good and some bad. We humans are genetically conditioned to smell shit as bad as we do. Why? Because it's fucking unhealthy, so nature wanted to make sure we never ate any. Simple as that. Use your head next time.

So why do scat fetishes exist? Nature just kinda left out the "shit tastes and smells bad" gene for certain people?

Eating faeces before modern medicine would lead to death. So naturally we have evolved not to like the smell it gives off.

Shit just smells, like anything else smells. The reason we don't like the smell is because shit is essentially poisonous; it has no nutritional value and it's full of bacteria. Eating it will make you sick fast, hence we evolved to hate the smell.

I hate these threads. I fucking hate them. I hate them so much.
