How do I made radio waves?

I know how to make microwaves, you just bounce electrons around between 2 spinning electro magnets, but how do you create really large radio waves, why were radio waves invented before microwaves, microwaves seem simpler to produce than radio waves.

in theory, you can make any electromagnetic wave using an LC circut.  dont know how accurate that is, though.
