how can people even push this shit as scientific

Like Scientology.....a bunch of bullshit caught in the ass-hairs of imagination.

universities should just cancel all courses except hard sciences, and linguistics and history

We need math, too. I'm bad at it, and my hometown education system is a good contributer to the problem.

I don't see anything wrong with mereological nihilism.  It seems to be in complete agreement with known scientific facts as far as I can tell.  What's so bad about it?

It's not actual science, more like scientificish philosophy

Wow the world is composed from basic building blocks. Whoa. That's so deep it deserves its own name so the "academics" can write long, meaningless papers on it while sipping latte.

It's not worthy of the name philosophy.

So I should be calling everything quarks and electrons instaid of cats and cars? It's a silly question, but so is saying "our senses give us only foggy information about reality and thus they cannot be trusted".

WIKIPEDIA SAID IT WAS TRUE SO DONT ARGUE

It is based on the fact that electrons and such dont have set positions and only physically exist in theory. Mereological nihilism is the belief that as humans we choose where and when these exist to create our own reality. I mean think about it... Physically we are all just empty space. We are built of atoms which are make up of a tiny dense nucleus surrounded by a MASSIVE amount of empty space in comparison to the size of the nucleus. This empty space contains some electrons which we can only prove exist by chemical means and not physical means. So we are built of empty space, as is everything else in a basically empty universe...

Unforunately it is fatal to anyone who isn't braindead already.

Electrons can be proven to exist through physical means. You are staring at a piece of equipment which uses electrons via "physical means" as you read this.

If I punch you in the face, buddy you're gonna feel it. You can't just choose whether or not my fist exists.

Yes, and? Why does this affect your outlook on life? Why is this some spiritual revelation?

This empty space contains some electrons which we can only prove exist by chemical means and not physical means.
What an intergalactic pile of fail.
