How many sugar molecules does 12 grams of sugar contain?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-03 7:50

C12 H22 O11

NA = 6,02 × 1023 1/mol

12g of sugar would = 0,035 moles (1 mole = 342g)

so 0,035 * 6,02 * (10^23) = 2,10700 × 10^22

Or am I talking out of my ass here?

yeah. if sugar is C12 H22 O11, then i got 2.107 x 10^22 also.

assuming the sugar you're talking about is sucrose, common table sugar, this is correct.  there are many types of sugar, however (sucrose, glucose, fructose, lactose, etc.)

The result is actually somewhere between 2.0E22 and 2.2E22, because of the imprecision of '12'.

>>5 is correct. Sucrose is actually a glucose and a fructose molecule, so if that's what you're talking about, the number would be rougly half that.

If you're asking how many sugar molecules do 12 grams of monosaccharides contain, then 2.1e22 is your answer.

OP here

C12 H22 O11 is what I'm talking about so I guess 2.1e22 is correct, thank you ppl

Don't change these.
