Are people getting dumber?

I just saw a Who Wants to be a Millionaire question worth $8000 which asked:

Which of the following is not an integer?
a. 1
b. 1/2
c. 0
d. -2

AND THE GUY DIDNT KNOW AND USED A LIFELINE!

i got one worse, same show, $100 question "What animal did Hannibal use to cross the alps? elephant, horse, pig, donkey"

the guy had no idea, asked the audiance, who strongly replied elephant, then made the 50/50, then called a friends to ask elephant or horse? then chose horse, and lost.

all 3 lifelines $100 question and still lost, i will never forget that moment.
