You're not measuring volume of the slices or how much apple they are. You are ONLY counting the quantities of APPLE SLICES with NO regard to anything else.
I have one dog in a bag, and I put another dog in the same bag, then I have two dogs in that bag. I don't care if one is the size of a horse and the other one a chihuaha, I have TWO DOGS.
