So what the hell is up with Attenborough?

A documentary of his was shown on the telly over here just today. It was about miniscule bugs and other somewhat cool invertebrates -- even had infrared footage of this crazy-ass centipede catching and eating a bat in a Venezuelan cave.

Soon after the documentary segued into sped-up footage of snails fucking. After that, it was earthworms (with heavy speculation as to how exactly they fuck in their underground passages). After the third or fourth species I turned the idiot box back off.

So tell me, what the _fuck_ is this shit about? Who cares about invertebrates fucking, or fish fucking, or goddamn buffalos fucking? And above all why the hell is that footage considered so precious that it absolutely has to go into the final documentary?
