Why is God real but Santa not?

So many people believe in god but then they tell their children that Santa isn't real. People that believe in aliens are considered crazy as well, while it's perfectly normal to believe in a superbeing called "god". What's with the hypocrisy.

A more important question related to this thread is...  Why isn't there a philosophy board yet?  This is a math and science board and this thread has nothing to do with math nor science.
