The Goal of science?

I think science is racing towards transcendentalism, but it's grasping for a near impossible goal. Transcendentalism is the loss of species identity itself, so why would we wish to achive this? We aim to weave ourselves into the very fabric from which we are created, which doesn't seem very reasonable. not only that, but transcendentalism may even be the state of nothingness. just some thoughts

meybe, maybe not.  science, in my mind, is the attempt to understand the universe.  engineering, in my mind, is the application of science to a practical end: since we are all animals, we have at least two core goals; to survive and to reproduce.  virtually all inventions made to date are designed to aid this in some manner.
