The other day, I saw a guy who kept on bluffing about his complete knowledge of physics. He then asked some guy to hit a tennis ball over and proceded to catch it with his racket. The amazing thing is that the ball just stopped on the racket without bouncing off. Is there really some kind of scientific explanation for that? And is there anybody who knows how to do that?

practise. my tennis instructor could do that.
i guess you have to move the racket in such a way that you decelerate the ball, but don't do it so sharply that it bounces off.
still, you have to practise and "feel" the right amount of movement.

i can do that but i have to move the racket a feet or two

Sort of like how you bunt a ball in baseball.

I'd like to learn that o_o how do you do it? Just slide it on the side?
