Metaphysics

Just thought there ought to be a thread about Metaphysics going in world4ch.

Although it's uncertain science, Metaphysics tend to be great entertainment, as it's main principle is the factor of non-provability. Neither part can prove the other wrong, as there are no evidence present at any time.

There was this one time I put a cat in an old tire and rolled it off a cliff.  It was metaphysical because I never knew if it ever lived or died .

Well, sometimes I think that after people die, they broadcast over a frequency that has not been detected by modern equipment.

But then after I studied some more history and psychology, I concluded that the human brain works a certain way.

The original author is correct. Metaphysics is entertainment.

Metaphysics is actually a branch of philosophy, though people frequently use it incorrectly to refer to occult-type things. Metaphysics has two main branches, cosmology and ontology. Cosmology is basically about the universe as a whole while ontology is basically about what things are made of and how things are classified.

Ontology does not recapitulate phylogeny.

This world is an increasingly popular MMORPG in an infinite sea of possible MMORPGs, all created by bored artist/programmer entities for kicks.

To participate in one of these MMORPG's an entity simply creates an avatar appropriate to the desired gaming experience (very much like we do) which is generally limited ot mere semi-autonomy... a sort of "sleeping" state of half consciousness.

Very occaisonally, however, such avatars become self aware and eventually become programmers themselves.

Metaphysics is very fun.

Hm... AFAIU, metaphysics actualy IS a philosophy. "Metaphysics" is just a phylosophical work of Aristotel, that had been placed by Adronic of Rodoss just after "Physics" while publishing it. And its title simply means "after Physics" ("μετά" = "after").

Rat : "MAYBE NEXT TIME I WON'T ASK FOR QUESTIONS."
