And an "amen" to that, brother. I've recently started to learn Lisp and everyone's saying "use emacs, you have to use emacs, lisp can only be written in emacs slime". What the fuck? Why do I have to switch to an inferior text editor just to write in some language? Perhaps the emacs tyranny is the reason Lisp is so unpopular: nobody wants to use a language if it means using some shitty finger-breaking kludge.
