Learning programming from internet

Greetings

I want to learn programming. I'll give you an understanding on why I'm desperate to make a living off of computers. (Skip down 4 paragraphs if tl;dr)

I've used computers for most of my life and would enjoy a computer job.

My decade or so as a skateboarder has left me with arthritis in both ankles. Labour jobs are all I seem to be doing to make money. I'm living in a beautiful country, but there's not much employment opportunities here. A high unemployment rate. So once you get a job, you hold onto it!

I'm not a hands on guy, and these types of jobs are no good for my ankles. Always swollen and stiff. A very stressful and entirely unenjoyable work life.

My dad is on his last legs, so I've got to hold down a job to help pay the bills. I have no time to study at a school, probably for the rest of my life! It's depressing to me.

Could someone point me in a starting direction? Or even list a bunch of subjects that will help me from beginner to intense subject matter, please? Videos, texts, anything useful on the net.

I've searched around and found instructional videos. I just don't know if it's where I should be starting..?

I'd like to be able to create applications, but there's probably more things to do with programming. I don't know?

I would say that you start learning HTML/CSS (not programming languanges) so you can create your own website! (I prefer htmldog.com to learn) After that, I would start learning pure Javascript (programming languange) then pick a library like jquery... After that I would learn php or python, now you have to find your own way
