It's like hiring a bunch of retards instead of one really smart and competent worker.
Why aren't Intel or AMD concentrating on making better single-cores? A lot of "new" and "fast" processors have pretty similar performance to previous generations, in single-threaded benchmarks.
AMD's 8-core processors are great aside from the fact that multithreading support fucking sucks, so very few programs will be able make use of even half of them.
What do you think? Are multi-core CPUs the problem, or is it that people aren't spending enough time optimizing programs for multiple cores/threads?
