Can you license the output file of gcc -S under the GPL?

A program that is licensed under the GPL is still under the GPL in the from of source code, temporary object files and in the form of a compiled and assembled executable. If you choose distribute the GPL object code, you are bound by the GPL to distribute the corresponding source code to it. Compiled code is not considered source code.
