Then, when the scientist who were running the simulation on a giant computer the size of Tokyo, clone someone from that world into the real world, they make the virus real and it gives a lot of people cancer. The simulation found a cure but it was shut down because all the taxpayers were dead, so they had to start it in secret, and they needed to put the guy they cloned in it. Then they tore him apart with neutron beam scanners and reinserted him into the matrix.
It was very painful.
And that's how The Ringu series is a scifi story.
