Need help on C

Could anyone give me a quick template of passing a struct with a 2-d or maybe even 3-d array by reference? I'm having difficulties on that because I must have it in main() funcion and can't use it as a global variable(which would solve me a lot of trouble).
I'm just a beginner so I really need help on that.

also :structs must be allocated on the heap(malloc only) not stack(non-static array or alloca).statically allocated structs(global variables/static) can have references too, but are less useful than dynamic.
