i'm doing a CS major so I need a good laptop for coding. i'm thinking either a thinkpad or a mac since that's what most tech savvy users have. what specific models? i'm willing to go full freetard and get a lemote.

You're an idiot. Macbook airs are thin, but they're sure as hell not light. In fact when they were released everybody was dumbfounded by just how absurdly heavy they were for their size.
That's why their advertisements involved putting them inside an A4 envelope rather than weighing them because everybody knows that being able to put your laptop inside an envelope is important, right?
