I prefer to categorize content into specific, narrow categories. You still can post in the general forums(all main branches of all subforums can be posted into), but topics will be moved to specific subforums if their content is limited to specific subcategory.

I prefer that the people who don't share my aesthetics of forum design, stay out of it. Larger audiences will require more moderation effort, and if this keeps the crowd scared by superficial complexity, its for the better.
