CSS border-radius, little help needed

Sup guys. I'm aware this isn't techincally about programming, sry for that.
Problem: I need to give a menu rounded corners without reducing the active area. Border-radius reduces the active size of the element, and I can't use additional objects, it has to be done purely with CSS.

If you check the demo, I need the clickable area of the link to be a straight box, instead of a rounded one.

I also block every CSS and temporary unblock when needed. Surfing the web running Lubuntu on a PII 266, 256MB RAM very smoothly. Outperforms my brother's 2011 MacBook every second! It just doesn't look nice, but it gets the job done.
