1) This isn't programming related - and as such would be better off in /comp/.
2) You didn't vet every single piece of code that ran to create the system you're currently running, with that vetting taking place on a completely trusted platform. More eyeballs is good, but to imply that it is foolproof against malicious tampering is foolish.
