I just got a bonus for being so smart!

I used my superior knowledge of computer science attained by meditation on SICP and Zen to achieve a performance increase when I discovered a bubble sort algorithm that had been in production code for 15 years, saving millions somehow. Now I'm $500 richer (and I got a plaque, which is made out of cheap plastic).

Just keep that in mind the next time one of you dorks decides to forgo the basics of computer science and skup to the fun parts where you actually get to make a game.

Well why don't you take your 500 shekels and buy a shit, because I don't give one.

Name: Anonymous 2013-06-12 23:07

So did you put in a decent algorithm in its place, or did you just bump it up to Selection/Insertion sort instead and make a note of the spot in code for the next time you want a raise?

People don't really do this, do they? If they aren't capable of making anything worthwhile, wouldn't they just use the standard library?

I just got a boner for being so goddamn sexy

computer science
In my dictionary, the preferred definition of science involves discovering properties of the natural world. Engineering involves the application of those properties to solve practical problems. By those definitions programmers are neither scientists nor engineers. The principal objects of their study are manmade, not natural. -- William A. Wulf, Professor of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Man is natural, the materials he uses to produce objects are natural, so how can a manmade object not be natural?

Computer science is a total misnomer as it doesn't deal with computers or science. Computer science is actually closer to magic than science. The wizards who use computer science learn how to cast spells that control the spirits inside the computer.

Why oh why would you link me to a post on /jp/ with nothing by a thumbnail and and a single meaningless reply?

And a PS2 Higurashi thread none-the-less! It's hideous, and Satoko isn't even naked in those sprites. Disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself, Cudder.

I hope you used counting sort.

I removed some line from an asshole, which cleared the cache everytime a page was loaded. It got me my monthly bonus of 500. After taxes, that means I can keep 200 euro's myself
