TeX/LaTeX editor

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-15 5:08

I need some good TeX/LaTeX editor for UNIX-derivatives, but I have countless options and I don't want to go through every single one to see what I like.

Recommend me something only true /prog/rider would use

How about something for non-autists that use GUI instead of learning for two weeks just to use a text editor?

I'd say go out there, search the net and find one that suits you in regards to features.
Here's a handy chart from our good friends at [citation needed]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_TeX_editors

As for what I've used in the past, that would be texstudio for maths assignments.
Pretty feature rich and has a decent interface.
As it stands I think the key features I found useful were
-syntax highlighting/bracket matching
-multiple preview and export options
-bibliography templates for different sauces
-maths things on both buttons and hotkeyed for rapid insertion
-wizards for certain tasks that you can't be bothered doing
