Weekly Project Thread

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-08 10:44

I thought we ought to have this, since /g/ already do a Daily Programming Thread and it's basically this but with dumb pictures rather than much interesting code so maybe this will be better.

I'm aware this has probably been attempted and anally raped already.

So, /prog/, what are you working on this week?

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-08 10:45

And yes, it's weekly because we don't get 1/7 of the traffic /g/ get.

I'm finally taking the time out to learn OpenGL properly.

Did you already know about computer graphics?  AKA is this just an introduction to the API or the concept of graphics as well?

Dictionary and thesaurus in java, has to store the data in trees.

It's good to learn if you want to become a slave to M$ and have to relearn it every few years as they replace it with a new version that's basically a completely different API.

That only happened once... I think.  Direct3D 9 to Direct3D 10, right?

Why not store the data in an array and then use binary sort?

That's how humans do it, at least.

Surely MS provides a nice C# API for using XML files?

They sure as hell won't shut up about XML...

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-08 18:13

I don't know if you can call any XML API nice.

Name: Anonymous 2013-05-08 19:33

I just started looking for XML APIs and then realised that I don't know anything about XML.  Looks like MS does have one, though.

Is this what you're using?

Assignment spec calls for a tree, so I have to do it in a tree.
Plus, we're given class files with methods either already filled out, or they are method signatures.
I suppose they do only want to judge our competency at using data structures for this subject, but sometimes it'd be nice if they made it a bit of a struggle and made us write everything.

I'd just like to bump all the actual /prog/ threads.

Don't change these.
