The sole purpose of BTC is to fund U.S. operatives and pro-Western rebels abroad without leaving a trace. Ever notice how BTC hasn't been tampered with by the government? They easily destroyed e-gold and could even more easily do so by BTC by mining all the coins themselves or arresting users to scare away new ones. No, they want the BTC economy to be very large. They knew something like this would come out eventually, so why not dominate the market before anyone else could, using NSA-approved features (like every transaction being public, so that those with massive computing power (the NSA) can trace you down).
