I don't have a degree (still in college) but I got a good job due to connections. He liked me and wanted to help me out because he knew I was unemployed and was able to pull some strings and get me a position. I am grossly overpaid for what I do.

Just get a GED. It's easy as fuck and takes no time at all to get. It's an aptitude test, and that's all you need in order to get into a community college.
Community college is really cheap, and you can also look into stipends and scholarships.
You can get an education, it just seems like you don't want one.

To get a job you need Bachelor's Degree in the first place. There is no other reason to attend university, besides getting a degree.
All these Haskell languages and Turing Machines you learn at college are completely 100% useless.
In Russia some universities teach UFO sciences and astrology, and no one questions, because they provide legit degree.

bullshit. i suppose there might be cases when some crazy professors taught their poor students about ufo etc crap (actually i knew one guy who did, it was kind of strange, he was a good geologist, but he spent half of his lectures talking about about ufo, ether etc things, students hated him).
occult sciences were popular in russia some time ago for some reason... i even knew one 'occult' college which passed state accreditation, but it lost it many years ago
