What's with all the freaks?

Hello /prog/, mind telling me what's up with all the weirdo on here? I'm not trying to make a value judgment or anything, but it seems that this board is completely full of nothing but crazed racists, idiotic trolls, complete and total failures, cross-dressers, stalkers, autistic shitposters who defy all posting standards, and worst of all, pedophiles. Surely this can't be representative of the programming community as a whole. Why do such people congregate in this place?

Perhaps I am an authoritarian. It would be better to have this on a more cultural level, but a strong government can substitute. What is wrong authoritarianism on a fundamental (that means don't cite North Korea as the typical of socialism) level, so long as it promotes the good of society and technological progress, while still minimalizes pain?
