What's with all the freaks?

Hello /prog/, mind telling me what's up with all the weirdo on here? I'm not trying to make a value judgment or anything, but it seems that this board is completely full of nothing but crazed racists, idiotic trolls, complete and total failures, cross-dressers, stalkers, autistic shitposters who defy all posting standards, and worst of all, pedophiles. Surely this can't be representative of the programming community as a whole. Why do such people congregate in this place?

Don't kid yourself that a little tyranny isn't necessary. A strong centralized government is the only reason why modern civilization is possible. The government and facebook doesn't need to spy on people, the people need the government and facebook to spy on them and keep them honest. In the past, this function was fulfilled by an omnipotent, omnipresent sky-monster that watched everyone and would smite them forever if they stepped out of line. That came with far too much baggage however and needs to go. Nothing even has to be acted on, people just need to know that it exists. People post about smoking weed on facebook all the time and there is no action taken. All that favoritism that the government shows industry results directly in greater standard of living (though perhaps not quality of life) for every factory built or every loan given.

The people in charge don’t want to see you fail. Why would they even care? That’s ridiculous. You having more money means more tax revenue and more money for you spend. This is always a good thing. They also don’t care that you are pissed off about politics until you start talking about making bombs. People talk shit about authority all the time to make themselves feel better. Even little kids will talk bad about the schoolyard bully when he isn’t there. It’s natural and a good release. Don’t worry about wiretapping. Rest assured that nobody cares about you. Your life is not that interesting.

`Liberty' (in the sense that you use it) is an anomaly in human history. Even all the times that people claim are a model of small government, people would still be hanged for stealing a tomato. There is no such thing as `social justice' and there never was. There is a reason that uneducated shithole places like Africa, the middle eastern countries, eastern Europe, etc have to have dictators: because they simply cannot accept the idea of not being forced to do something. Consider Egypt. They get democracy and the first thing they do is elect a theocracy. Democracy in Iraq or Afghanistan? That will NEVER happen, simply because without a strong man to force them to get along, those idiots will go crazy until someone does force them to get along (even if it's just so they can attack some other, weaker group).

Do you really think that most people need true freedom anyway? Perhaps scientists or artists, but give a poor black youth the opportunity to do whatever he wishes and he is going to go join a gang and be killed at age 19 because he thinks it's cool. And that is exactly what they do. They need a strong authority figure to keep them from getting themselves killed. Same with softer forms of miscreantism: if you take the average coal miner and give him everything he needs in life, he's going to drink himself to death in a month. They simply can't handle the freedom that comes with freedom. Shit, look at all the bitches and assholes who will refuse to work simply to spite their own offspring (because the court can't garnish wages that don't exist).

You complain that things are this way without realizing that things are this way for a reason: IT FUCKING WORKS. A few minor problems here and there are no trouble. Do you get mad at drivers simply because a few oil workers were killed in a pipeline explosion? Do you get mad at people who use electronics because the gold in them was probably mined by what is functionally a slave? Feel free to walk away from Omelas, faggot. You are not going to change this system from within. Why? Because the entire system is built to maximize stability. Notice what the police motto is protect and serve "Uphold law and order". Order. That's what this is about. The order can never be lost. The power can shift a bit over time and even change the ruling party, but if the people are allowed too much order will fall and all of civilization will follow.
