What's with all the freaks?

Hello /prog/, mind telling me what's up with all the weirdo on here? I'm not trying to make a value judgment or anything, but it seems that this board is completely full of nothing but crazed racists, idiotic trolls, complete and total failures, cross-dressers, stalkers, autistic shitposters who defy all posting standards, and worst of all, pedophiles. Surely this can't be representative of the programming community as a whole. Why do such people congregate in this place?

The programming community is still full of misogynists and cryptoracists, though, just peruse any Hacker News thread vaguely pertaining to race or gender issues and you'll see the most obtuse idiots trotting out some ``science'' (cheap speculation using scientific-sounding words) to justify their contempt.

On the sexual fetishes and paraphilias, well, it's because of the same reason you get the likes of Nikita here: there's no moderation as long as we don't start sharing CP.
