I have found ADHD drugs like Adderall to be the ultimate concentration drug.  However, the side effects are not worth the gains.  All the money in the world and bug-free code is useless if you can't cum.

If you can't get Adderall, you can go down to your local meathead drug store and get some NOxplode.  It's basically legal speed.

However, I have found several ways of increasing concentration that do not require drugs.  For some reason, not eating for several hours (10+), like some second-rate buddhist monk's fasting ritual, puts me in the zone.  I feel like I can tap into some human survival instinct that gives me motivation to go hunt/gather/code.  It's hard to go to sleep on an empty stomach...

You could also just fix your shit, live healthy, and develop the SKILL of long-term concentration.  That would be more difficult, but better for you.

Hmmm... for one, I see no reason to believe that there's more to us than just matter, and that all our wonders don't come from more than our minds residing in our material bodies.

That said, we know that the brain is big enough of a deal to the workings of our mind that its working as a biological organ influences it from the formation of memory, to mood, to pleasure, to attentiveness, to anger, to affection. And that the inverse is true, i.e. that all we feel and think and perceive and in general experience affects it on a biological, chemical alright, you got me, it's electrochemical, I'm autistic now, etc. level.

And suffering from mental illness myself, and feeling the effects of my medication on me, I'm sort of biased against dualism, or thinking that we're otherwise free of the biological nature of our brain. Note how I didn't say ``determined''.
