Hmmm... for one, I see no reason to believe that there's
more to us than just matter, and that all our wonders don't come from more than our minds residing in our material bodies.
That said, we know that the brain is big enough of a deal to the workings of our mind that its working as a biological organ influences it from the formation of memory, to mood, to pleasure, to attentiveness, to anger, to affection. And that the inverse is true, i.e. that all we feel and think and perceive and in general experience affects it on a biological, chemical

And suffering from mental illness myself, and feeling the effects of my medication on me, I'm sort of biased against dualism, or thinking that we're otherwise free of the biological nature of our brain. Note how I didn't say ``determined''.
