Dear /prog/:

I'm completely new to programming and I'm debating between learning C++ or Python. I began learning on C++ but found it to be quite intensive.

Any resources, suggestions, or guides for a complete beginner to programming?

Honestly, I started off with Python and have now moved onto C++ but my Python experience didn't help me with C++ at all. Once you get your head round the C++ syntax and structure it'll all be fairly easy, but if you're only going to do application design (Without a good GUI) instead of game design, you won't be losing out on anything by going with Python. I still use Python for all of my text based applications. You might want to swap over to a Linux distro if you're serious about getting into programming, I did and I never looked back. It's much easier to get all of your paths etc to set up, and the terminal experience will help you too.
