consumer level notebooks
It sounds like you're suggesting there are any non-consumer-level notebooks left on the market. (Okay, Toughbooks exist, but
>>1 wasn't going to go for one anyway.)
I bought a new laptop in December, and out of all the crappy options in the market, I picked a ThinkPad, because at least the keyboard is actually nice, unlike on any other contemporary laptop (yes, even the new one). I'm not going to say the quality is anywhere near IBM-era level, but it's definitely more solidly built than anything I tried. Apple was another option for me until that non-removable-battery thing happened.
