Same thing happens with Yuri. Is like "George" in Russia, but in japanese games there's some Yuris that are female. In this moment i'm thinking of Yuri from KOF, and Juri (pronounced the same) in SF4.
So Yuri is like a girl's name in lots of minds. I don't, when i think of the name Yuri i think of Yuri Gagarin.
