It's not so bad, OP. I write it everyday. System administrator was the only job I could find and I have to use Python every day. Just be glad you aren't maintaining undocumented Perl written by the old, self-taught business guy who didn't believe in wasting disk space on variable names.
That shit was terrible. FOIC is at least not the worst.

It's ok. Whatever puts food on the table puts food on the table. If you want to do more interesting things you can always do them in your free time. If you want to get involved with a community, you can look into an open source project.
