I will install Gentoo in March when I have built my new computer.
This computer is on its last legs and technically belongs to someone else.

Do I need to delete windows as well, though?
How much space does an extra OS take up from your hard drive?

Are you seriously dumb enough to follow his ``advice''? He's a retard from /g/, don't listen to him.

A Linux environment in general would be better for learning any programming language.. Gentoo would scare and confuse most people.
Try Ubuntu or something with Gnome, install code::blocks from the repos, that's the most user-friendly way I can think of.

Linux is the second worst system for anything.

Yeah! Use a modern UNIX like OS X.

C is shit. It introduced the buffer overflow into high-level languages.

buffer overflow is the only known bug in computer science

I'd like to tell you why you're fucking braindead, but I don't think you'd understand.

All that means is that you have to use valgrind every now and then. That's it, an extra step.

If you are on windows, check out this video series.
Download ANSI K&R and skim it, too. But remember, that book has alot of deprecated things in it.
