I don't understand why people cream over an inconsistent piece of shit that is highly platform-dependent (I don't mean operating systems, I mean browsers and their specific crap), absurdly inefficient (yeah V8 is ``fast'' but it's a resource hog), ugly as a kik- Jewish individual and overall a not-even-polished turd.
The reason it's great is that it can be run anywhere on modern machines that are powerful enough to run 90% of programs without the performance issues being an issue.

There are numerous libraries to abstract away the implementation inconsistencies until browser developers agree on something. When or whether they do won't make a difference because these libraries are so lightweight in comparison to whatever you'd write with them.
