At first his friends knew that he was a promising philosopher, then the historian of philosophy, then came to the forefront the sociologist, and later he became a psychologist, then showing his other incarnation - whether cultural anthropologist, or sexologist. Finally, it became clear that he is a PHENOMENON of the Soviet and then Russian social and cultural life.
As a researcher, he has not made any fundamental discovery. All that he had taught the world of science discovered long ago. But this does not make his truths any less acceptable, because his role was different. He posed new challenges for science (opened closed issues - gender, sex, education of the individual, freedom of conscience, civil rights), worked through an enormous amount of material, figured out the truth and continued to advocate for that truth with integrity and inflexibility. In the conditions of our country, with its bizarre mix of Marxist dogma and medieval clericalism, corrupt science and superstition, this required tremendous knowledge, constant work and bravery.

Create theories, hypotheses, directions, schools of thoughts, methods real and imaginary, the more extravagant the better! Let it not confuse you that nobody needs them, let it not confuse you that they will be forgotten tomorrow. The new day will come. The new theories will come. In this the power of our spirit expresses itself, in this is its selfassertion, in this is our superiority. Let the Goyim pay our promissory notes.
