Python is terrible!

Why do people use it? I've been learning Ruby at my work and it's infinitely better - no FIOC, half-assed OO implementation, shitty multithreading, no decent CPAN/Gems equivalent. Ruby is so much cleaner and easier to code with. I prefer ruby as a language ,  but ruby sockets are SLOW AS FUCK.

Python is much speedier but I hate it's lack of closures
