Breaking into Soundcloud from Scratch

Name: Anonymous 2013-01-08 2:29

Today I wanted to download something from Soundcloud, but the download link was disabled.  What I used to do is view the source, and then find the link to the stream, and just download that.  However, these days they've hidden it behind a pile of Flash and Javascript.  I spent a while dicking around with the code behind it and eventually decided I'd see if someone else did it, and of course, a million people already did it a million different ways.

If I wanted to figure out how to do it from scratch, though, where would I start.

by not using soundcloud in the first place, it's garbage.

I'm looking for files that only seem to be available on the artist's Soundcloud, or else I wouldn't have gone through the trouble in the first place.

Running the flash file through a decompiler should allow you to view the ActionScript. There you'll be able to see where it's loading the audio from.
