It's a little more involved and there's a ton of drama. Every psychiatrist I have met hates the DSM, because they all disagree with a large part of it.
The first chapters of the Manual are actually worthwhile reading, since they basically explain and justify what counts as a ``disorder''. The real problem lies in pleasing everyone, which is impossible (and they shouldn't really try).
