Let's make /prog/ a better place

Name: Ihavedreams 2012-12-21 2:39

Hello everyone. Let's have actual discussions on our board instead of letting it die. To achieve this we will create rules that *we* will follow. If another person doesn't follow those rules we will call him out on his foolishness and retardation.

Rule 1: Create threads which are related to programming or computer science or mathematics. If a person doesn't do this,
tell him that you actually wanted to discuss programming and you are'nt happy with his childish behaviour.

Rule 2: Stop spewing "meme" bullshit. If you must, put them at the end of a constructive comment.
Example:
instead of this
         hax my anus
say this:
I do not agree with your reasoning because ...
         also shalom hymie .
Rule 3: Instead of verbally abusing  a poster, first say why you do not agree with him , then verbally abuse him.

Please post your thoughts on these views. (Some of you edgy teenagers might actually start spewing memes, let's ignore them)
I would also like you to post rules which you would like to be followed for creating a better board.

You'll never (fully) overhaul things.
the board has
-no mods (which is probably a good thing, there are no good candidates IMHO)
-no way of removing shit threads (i.e. report button) that can't be used against good threads (see end of my post for such a strategy)
-no gauge of what level of /prog/ culture is reasonable
-userbase mostly consisting of those who pop in to make sure /prog/ stays on topic - i.e. talking about you, Ahmed.

Just make more threads that make /prog/ the place you want it to be. Don't expect it to change overnight, or ever.
If it does, expect it to invite a new form of shitposting- the invasion of other communities here, bringing with them opinionated, incorrect ideas about programming and lacking any ability to assimilate into whatever /prog/ culture is at that time. That's the problem of cleaning the place up too much.

==killing shit threads==
Select a thread, sagebomb it to no replies, then bump (blankpost or ``bampu pantsu'' /filler text) every other thread in page 1 (and even more). Script that and you're set.

That begs the question- why don't I make one?
I'm not a good programmer, nor know anything about scripting the above; which makes me think- maybe I should learn so.
It does seem like fun project, but I know I'll never get around to doing it.
If you do make it, keep it to yourself- otherwise people will use it to sage every thread. Be the dark knight that watches over prog.
