JS Libraries

So after fucking around on Codecademy whenever I'm bored for a while I've decided to stop playing games and dive head first into learning Javascript. I want to get into the libraries some more but I don't know where to start. Theres so many that I don't even know where to begin, even just the ones google mirrors
https://developers.google.com/speed/libraries/

Then there are others like Modrnzr. Which are good, which should be avoided? What are even the uses of the massive libraries like YUI and Googles Closure libraries?

I've already started learning jQuery as that seems to be the most widely used. I'm starting with simple greasemonkey scripts to make doing my job involving data entry more pleasant and easier. However I have plans to build a web application + mobile app over the course of the next year in my spare time. I'm not worried about the mobile end or the design of the front end of the web app but I know very little about the functionality back end of a web app so I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

You're totally fucked if you think codecademy and JS is going to be enough.

stop using client-side validation. use websockets and perform it on the server

Java isn't the same thing as JavaScript you moron nigger.

Google Closure Compiler is a java program that kind of optimises javascript or something.

No fucking shit, hence why I said Im going to stop fucking around and actually learn js. Then you go suggesting that I have no programming experience outside of CA

Well, you kind of strike me as a dumbass. Maybe you should do something a bit easier. Like say, working as a stocker at Walmart.

Maybe you should go shave your beard if you're just going to bitch about people trying to better themselves

Java doesn't count as programming experience.

Neither does Lisp

Of course, because Scheme is useless and Common Lisp is just too damn ugly to be useful, but I don't see how that's relevant to this thread.

Are you seriously telling a /prog/rider to shave his beard? No, are you using that as an insult?

Back to /g/redditnews, ‘‘please’’.

1) slow as turd:

2)Dynamic in everyway (lexical and execution), prone to error
3)Ambiguous syntax:

4) no bindings to other languages or tools (not enterprise ready)
5) DSL in it is crap because of reason above
6) Built by a kid:

Seriously, they should have used GNU Guile on their scripting shit back in 1994. But we know Business rules over sane implementations. I mean compete with Microsoft on the browser level base on the same operating system, that is your goal? It sounds like netscape only wanted to show who big its little dick was so he can be felt up.
