advice needed

please forgive me if this is completely the wrong place to go but i don't know where else to ask for this kind of info. my family thinks that my niece is being physically and mentally abused by her stepmom. we looked into nanny cams but the ones that upload via wireless will show on the pc when uploading audio. is there somewhere i can go to learn how to make their computer webcam record audio to a private url or somewhere that i can check on/record from my pc? i'm a web designer and know a bit of backend coding- enough to figure my way through something with a bit of guidance. any help would be appreciated. we don't plan to use this in a court situation, we know it won't be useable, but maybe if there ends up being something on there my brother can hear it and actually see what is going on when he isn't home- as of right now he is not able to see the truth of who his wife is.

comment3- while video would be helpful, i imagine it would be harder to do and i don't know that i want to actually see what goes on in that house- call it naive or weak, but this whole situation is breaking me. so yes, audio would be preferable and just as useful i think. thank you for the link to the zoom products, i'll look into it.

4- fantasies are nice and i lapse into them often, but so far no amount of concentration has make them turn into reality :)

5- you can't use audio that is obtained without knowledge and/or court order in court as far as i know. while i'd like to take anything we find to authorities, i don't think we can. but if it at least makes my brother wake up and get his daughter away from her it's worth it.

6- I know that being there watching over her would be easier, but i have children of my own to raise and they live an hour away- i cannot be there all the time. i've tried talking to my brother, my parents have as well, but he's just not capable of seeing what is going on for some reason. if we have proof he won't be able to keep his head in the sand anymore.

7- assuming that's supposed to be an insult. i'm just looking at options to help my niece. we've called dhs, talked to my brother- no one sees what is going on. stepmom is good at hiding and covering. i'm just looking to help a child i love. if you can't understand that then i'm sorry for the lack of humanity in your life.
