This. I'm also interested. I thought about doing it as a client-server ncurses app with either plain c (gasp!) or using Python with urwid. Although I'm targeting this to at least run on windows XP.

You are right. So, I'm hired by this regional convenient store chain (the kind that actually open up shop in niggerville by choice), and I'm supposed to update a bunch of shit on the point-of-sale terminals so that they can do those promotions on the receipts and shit. They also want other little changes that aren't nearly as interesting. It hasn't been updated since 1999 (presumably for Y2K or something).
