HTML5 Canvas, JS with jit, even WebGL exists usable and across the board. For lagging users there can be some wrapper containing webkit.

There's not even a point in using GUIs. Use ncurses. It works, the clients love it because less mouse reaching, and it's cross platform.

Please stop inventing GUIs.
